I'm still around for communities, but as far as actual updates and posting things, I've effectively moved over to Tumblr, Facebook, and Twitter. If you're on any of these sites and we aren't already following each other, let me know and I'll make it happen.
Life likes to shit on me fairly regularly, but I don't give a fuck. I'm going to bake cupcakes and enjoy this beautiful weather and NOT LET THE BASTARDS GET ME DOWN.

Started the day going "Ugh it's Sunday, I'm just not going to do anything, fuck it." Ended up going to the gym, working out until I coulda dropped, then going home and cleaning my entire apartment.

Woooo weekend~!
As ever, my life is pretty dull. But I don't mind horribly :) just lots of work and sleeping early and not going out/spending money much. I did get an iPhone though which I'm embarrassingly excited about, and joined a gym which I really enjoy.

How are all of you?

what the fuck is this i can't even...

So, it goes without saying that the outpouring of support for Japan in this time of need is a Very Good Thing. Same as the outpouring of support for Haiti and New Zealand recently, et cetera et cetera. People seeing others suffering as the result of a natural disaster, and offering sympathy and assistance.

Then I run across things like this: http://img41.imageshack.us/f/1299926235385.jpg/

First I was like

then I kept reading and was all

and by the end I was so full of anger that I was ready to

The amount of ignorance of our own history, lack of compassion, thirst for revenge that borders on blood-lust, xenophobia, and just straight-up WTF AWFUL in that link makes me so fucking embarrassed to live in America.

Vintage family photos!

Trolling around on Facebook today, I came across my dad's cousin's account. I've met him once or twice when I was really young, so I poked through the photos that he has public and ran across this:

The one in the striped tie in the back row is my grandfather, next to him is his brother (whom I think looks rather like a mad scientist), seated in front of them are my great-grandparents, and my grandfather's four sisters are around them. It was taken in 1942.

*sigh of relief*

It took about a month, but I've landed a new (full time!) job. I start Monday morning at an office that does investigations for law, as well as an attorney members' association and (if i remember correctly) wine importing. As well as receptionist work, I'll be the assistant to Claire, who in turn is assistant to Gary, who is the head honcho. They both seem super nice and jovial so I think I'll be pretty happy there. Plus the office isn't far from my apartment, it's next to the downtown library and walking there only takes about 15/20 minutes. I haven't asked what I'm getting paid yet, but I do know that I'll be getting insurance again so I'm well relieved on that front.

I'm growing angrier and more disgusted with the people in power in this country as time passes. The right isn't even hiding their flagrant misogyny anymore, they're pretty much flaunting it. MoveOn has a list of ten current ways they're just openly attacking women's rights/health: http://pol.moveon.org/waronwomen/?rc=fb

Basically, they believe that women shouldn't have proper sexual educations, shouldn't have access to contraception or gynocological health care, if they do get pregnant they shouldn't be allowed to have abortions regardless of whether it's the result of rape or if the health of the mother is threatened, doctors who perform abortions should be able to be legally murdered, and after the child is born they shouldn't be allowed access to assistance for food or shelter and DEFINITELY not pre-school (because who wants to educate poor kids, and besides these women should be at home watching their kids instead of working even though we don't want to give them unemployment benefits either, amirite?!). But contraception for wild horses and federal funding for NASCAR, those are okay.

Fuck you too, pieces of shit.

America, I want to love you. You've got a lot of good things going for you. But you're making it hard.

I'm just going to leave this here.

“What did liberals do that was so offensive to the Republican Party? I’ll tell you what they did. Liberals got women the right to vote. Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote. Liberals created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty. Liberals ended segregation. Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act. Liberals created Medicare. Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act. What did Conservatives do? They opposed them on every one of those things, every one. So when you try to hurl that label at my feet, ‘Liberal,’ as if it were something to be ashamed of, something dirty, something to run away from, it won’t work, because I will pick up that label and I will wear it as a badge of honor.”

One guilty pleasure of mine is celebrity gossip and entertainment news. I've been a member of ONTD for several years and read it on a near-daily basis. Sometimes it's a bunch of crap that I don't care about, and sometimes it brings to light important issues and news from around the globe before I hear about it elsewhere. And sometimes a girl just likes to look at some hot famous people, regardless of why they're posted ;)

So this morning I was perusing the site, and there was a post about a character on "Glee" (a show which I've never seen) who is gay and will be "openly questioning whether bisexuality exists".

Shit pisses me off.

Of course it exists. There are countless individuals who are bisexual, who are not "in a phase" or "curious" or "too scared to fully come out as gay" or "greedy" or "confused". Who are just straight-up attracted to both men and women--whether they like it or not.

It shouldn't even be a discussion, why are people still asking ridiculous shit like this? Thankfully most of the commenters in the post were chill and knowledgeable, but I'm worried that the storyline may go in a way that leads its enormous (and fanatic) audience to think bisexuality IS some sort of "phase" or "in-between stage" or "confusion".
